Ukrainian tourists in Oman found themselves in a scandal after riding a turtle
Law enforcement officials and the Omani Environmental Protection Agency have launched an investigation into Ukrainian tourists who rode a sea turtle in the Ras al-Jinz nature reserve, held its hatchlings, and prevented the animal from escaping in order to film a video.
The individuals involved in the incident were athlete Vadym Oliinyk and cosmetologist Olena Kravchenko. After the incident gained publicity, the video was removed, and Oliinyk publicly apologized for his actions. According to environmental organizations, legal measures were taken against those involved, and they were detained at the Oman airport. The country’s authorities reminded the public that it is strictly prohibited to touch or approach animals in nesting areas.
