Venezuela lifts restrictions on websites and media — Anadolu Agency
Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, ordered the lifting of administrative restrictions on several websites and media outlets. The order was issued following the government’s dialogue with various sectors of society, Anadolu Agency reports.
Dialogue with former lawmakers
Rodríguez also welcomed progress in talks between government representatives and former lawmakers of the 2015 National Assembly. The discussions are taking place as part of a broader dialogue process that began in August.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Communication and Information, the authorities seek to ensure that national media operate in the public interest and protect Venezuelans’ right to truthful and timely information.

Recommendation from the coexistence program
Earlier this month, the Peace and Democratic Coexistence Program recommended that the government lift restrictions on media domains. Prior to this, consultations were held with national, state, private and alternative media, as well as social media influencers.
The initiative said the consultations were intended to promote “greater and better communication, transparency, diversity and pluralism.” It also called for supporting freedom of expression “within the bounds of respect and responsibility.” In August, the authorities reported the release of dozens of people detained in political cases following the first round of talks.
