Zhejiang mooncake producers expand exports — ECNS
Mooncake producers in Wenzhou and Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, China, are increasing production ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival and expanding sales in overseas markets, ECNS reports.
Gift sets from Wenzhou
At the Zhisuji Pastry Culture Museum in Longgang, Wenzhou, gift sets of mooncakes were introduced for the holiday. Their design is aimed at younger buyers. Such products are sold in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, as well as in Southeast Asian countries.
Mooncakes are made and given as gifts for the Mid-Autumn Festival. In Longgang, confectioners also make them by hand.

Production peak in Taizhou
A factory in Taizhou entered a three-month period of most intensive production in early August. Its production lines operate almost around the clock, while the number of orders increased by 10% year-on-year.
Manufacturers launched the “Crispy” series in response to demand for products considered healthier. Improved production technologies are expected to help overcome the short shelf life of traditional mooncakes and the difficulties of transporting them over long distances.
Sales of this series are expected to reach several million yuan. The company has also released new varieties of mooncakes and exports its products to Vietnam, the Philippines, Japan and other markets.
