Detention before protest

Aleema Khan was detained on September 20 after the Lahore deputy commissioner ordered her detention or arrest under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance.

She was detained amid reports of a campaign against PTI ahead of a nationwide protest and a march to Islamabad scheduled for September 27. The party called for these actions, demanding Imran Khan’s release from imprisonment and mobilizing supporters to defend the supremacy of the constitution.

Following Aleema Khan’s detention, Imran Khan’s other sisters, Dr Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, were also detained for 30 days. In the September 20 order, the Lahore deputy commissioner described them as harmful to public safety and the maintenance of public order. They were to be held at Kot Lakhpat Central Jail.
