The owner of a major Lady Gaga fan account turned out to be a Belarusian political prisoner

The administrator of Gaga Daily—a Lady Gaga fan community with over 2 million followers across X, Instagram, and Facebook—explained his prolonged absence by saying, “Sorry, I was literally in jail.”

Kirill said that in early 2024, he was detained for participating in protests. He was initially sentenced to one and a half years in a penal colony under a charge of “organizing and preparing actions that grossly violate public order,” and later, as part of a new case, his total sentence was increased to two and a half years. Human rights activists recognized him as a political prisoner.

Kirill had been running Gaga Daily since 2009. While he was incarcerated, his friends managed the page. He is now free and plans to resume his work with the fan community.

The page was so popular that Lady Gaga herself read it. The singer previously said, “When I want to see what my fans are saying, I go to Gaga Daily.”
