Zelenskyy arrived in Yerevan to attend the European Political Community summit
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in the Armenian capital, where a two-day summit of the European Political Community begins on May 3. A series of bilateral meetings with the prime ministers of the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Finland, and Norway is scheduled for the first day of the visit.
Presidential spokesperson Serhiy Nikiforov informed journalists of this.
The main goal of the event is to coordinate international strategies to end Russia’s war against Ukraine and discuss security challenges in the Middle East. The president’s schedule also includes talks with other European leaders, notably Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The main plenary session of the summit and multilateral meetings will take place the following day, May 4.
This year’s forum has brought together leaders from nearly 50 countries to strengthen the continent’s security architecture and demonstrate unity amid geopolitical instability. It is expected that a representative from a country outside Europe—the Prime Minister of Canada—will participate in the summit for the first time. The meetings in Yerevan are viewed as an important stage in diplomatic engagement to strengthen the international isolation of the aggressor. In this way, Ukraine continues to engage partners in the implementation of joint defense and political initiatives.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will hold a bilateral meeting with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the summit in Yerevan. Tusk announced this before departing for Armenia, where leaders from nearly fifty countries will gather.
Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš will hold a brief meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the first time since taking office. The conversation will take place not in Kyiv, but in Yerevan on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit. At the same time, the Czech prime minister explicitly stated that he does not plan to travel to Ukraine.
