Warsaw residents have been warned about a siren test — RMF24

On Monday, May 18, technical tests of the upgraded emergency alert system will take place in Warsaw: during the test, residents of six locations in five districts of the Polish capital will hear a siren.

This was reported by Luiza Jurgel-Zyla, spokesperson for the governor of the Mazovia Province, as quoted by RMF24.

Experts are urging residents to remain calm and not to panic when the loudspeakers are activated.

Technical services are carrying out a large-scale upgrade of the city’s infrastructure, which is responsible for the safety of the civilian population in the event of emergencies.

According to the spokesperson, the activation of the sirens is part of testing the upgraded warning systems in the city. The new equipment is intended to ensure better audibility and signal transmission reliability within the Polish capital.

The testing procedure will cover a significant area of the city so that experts can properly assess the quality of the modernization.

In total, the test will cover six locations in various districts of Warsaw, including Wawer, Saska Kępa, Białoleńce, Bielany, and Bemowo-Jelonki. Specialists will carefully monitor the sound coverage level in each of these areas.

Warsaw residents and numerous foreign visitors should not be alarmed by loud noises on the streets. The signals will sound at various times throughout the day, allowing engineers to systematically adjust each individual communication node.

The organizers specifically alerted the media to prevent misinformation among the public.
