In June, a representative for the artist reported that she had emerged from the coma, though her condition remained serious.
The singer’s real name was Gaynor Hopkins. She was born on June 8, 1951, in Wales. She began her musical career under the stage name Bonnie Tyler and gained worldwide fame after the release of her album *The World Starts Tonight* in 1977.
Among her first major hits were the songs “Lost in France” and “More Than a Lover.” That same year, her hit “It’s a Heartache” reached number four on the UK Singles Chart and number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
