Video: Potap Angered Pugachova with a Joke About Galkin During a Performance in Jurmala

Ukrainian producer and performer Potap found himself at the center of a controversy after making an ill-advised joke about Maxim Galkin during the Laima Rendezvous Jūrmala 2026 festival in Latvia. Alla Pugacheva and her husband were in attendance at the event, and the artists’ reaction to Potap’s remarks sparked a wave of discussion on social media.

Potap and Kamenskykh performed their Russian-language repertoire on stage in Jūrmala. Before performing the song “Chumachechaya Vesna,” Potap decided to start the performance with a bit of humor, but Pugachova didn’t appreciate it.

The rapper addressed Alla Borisovna, trying to pay her a compliment. He remarked that, as she ages, the artist is starting to look more and more like her daughter, Kristina Orbakaite.

Potap didn’t forget about Galkin either, mentioning his new look and age, calling his current peak of popularity “Chumachecha Spring.” He then began singing his track with that title. “Hello, Alla Borisovna, greetings! You look so good! You’re starting to look more and more like Kristina Orbakaite. Max, you know, you’re the hottest thing on Instagram. 50 years old—we know what that’s called in psychology. For men, we call this age ‘Chumachecha Spring,’” Potap said.

However, Galkin and Pugachova didn’t appreciate the singer’s attention toward their couple. In particular, Maxim Galkin started coughing, covering his mouth with his hand while the artist was speaking, and eventually thanked the rapper for the compliment. At the same time, Alla Pugacheva couldn’t contain her emotions and showed her reaction to Potap’s ill-advised joke with a displeased expression and a roll of her eyes.

By the way, prior to this, Potap and Kamenskykh had begun collecting money from the audience after their previous performance. According to them, they needed funds for new costumes and concerts.

“Dear friends, you’ve collected some money. Could you please give it back to us? Thank you. We still have a concert coming up; we’re raising funds, so please give the money back if you can spare it. Whatever amount you’ve collected! We just have more concerts and performances coming up, and we need new costumes,” said Potap.

As a reminder, Alla Pugacheva and Maxim Galkin were the headliners at Laima Rendezvous Jūrmala.

Earlier, Olya Polyakova was embroiled in a scandal over a video with a Russian man in Latvia.
