Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Sentenced to 4 Years in Prison — Forbes

Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to just over four years in prison after being convicted in July on two counts under the Mann Act, which criminalizes trafficking people for the purposes of prostitution. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian handed down a 50-month prison term, a $900,000 fine, and five years of supervised release. Combs avoided a much harsher sentence after a jury acquitted him on more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.

Prosecutors pushed for a tougher sentence, arguing that Combs used his fame and influence as a “currency of control,” causing devastating harm to victims. The defense, however, emphasized his achievements, public contributions, and remorse. In his courtroom statement, Combs apologized to victims of domestic violence, admitting, “I have nobody to blame but myself,” while pleading for a second chance.

The trial featured testimony from ex-girlfriends and former colleagues, who accused the artist of abusive and coercive behavior. His attorneys argued he deserves an opportunity to rebuild his life, while prosecutors insisted his actions showed a dangerous pattern. Although the judge ruled that the prosecution’s request for a harsher sentence was “not reasonable,” Combs will still serve more than four years behind bars, followed by strict supervision.
