Mercedes-Benz sold 407,200 passenger cars worldwide in the third quarter. According to company data reported by InsideEVs, 25% of sales were vehicles with a charging port — fully electric models and plug-in hybrids.

Electric vehicle sales increased

Between July and September, the company sold 68,400 battery-electric vehicles. This was 61% more than in the same period of the previous year and 29% more than in the second quarter.

The share of fully electric models in total passenger car sales reached a record 16.8%. This was 7.2 percentage points higher than in the third quarter of the previous year.

At the same time, Mercedes-Benz's total global passenger car sales declined by 8% year on year. The company attributed the decline to challenging market conditions in China and said that its sales outside the Chinese market increased by 6%.

Growth in Europe

A significant share of the growth in sales of fully electric models came from Europe. In the region, their sales increased by 78% year on year, and almost every third Mercedes-Benz vehicle sold was fully electric. The company named the electric GLC as the main driver.

Electric versions of the CLA, GLA, GLB and GLC in the EU are sold out until the end of 2026. In the vans division, the share of electric vehicles accounted for about 11% of all sales, and in Europe, up to 15%.
