Geely unveils 2.25 MW charging system in China — InsideEVs
China’s Geely Auto Group has unveiled the fifth-generation Smart Charging System with peak power of up to 2.25 MW. According to the automaker, new versions of the Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001 electric vehicles, supported by the new battery system, can charge from 10% to 70% in 4 minutes 30 seconds.
InsideEVs reports on the system’s specifications. Geely also said that charging from 10% to 97% can take 8 minutes 40 seconds. The company did not specify what peak charging power the vehicles themselves can achieve.
Battery temperature control
To protect the battery during ultra-fast charging, Geely uses an artificial intelligence-based system called Xingrui PowerMind. According to the company, it predicts battery temperature and dynamically adjusts the charging speed. The system is designed to maintain an average battery temperature of 55 degrees Celsius, with a maximum of up to 65 degrees.

The manufacturer also reported a liquid cooling system that coordinates heat removal between the battery pack, charging port, cable, charging station and energy storage units supporting the charging infrastructure. Geely claims that these components together help provide power of about 2.2 MW.
Technology for the battery
Separately, Geely announced a technology for “pulse recovery of lithium-ion cells.” According to the company, it uses micro-pulses of current to reactivate lithium ions that accumulate on the anode during repeated fast-charging sessions. As InsideEVs explains, such accumulation, known as lithium plating, can potentially degrade battery condition.
For comparison, BYD’s Flash charging stations have a stated power output of 1.5 MW. According to InsideEVs, they can charge an electric vehicle from 10% to 70% in about five minutes and from 10% to 97% in nine minutes. As of August, BYD had deployed 10,000 such chargers in China and planned to increase their number to 20,000 by the end of the year.
