PRS and John Mayer unveil guitars in Land Rover Defender colors — Motor1
In the United States, PRS Guitars and John Mayer have created the Silver Sky Defender Color Collection series of electric guitars finished in the colors of the Land Rover Defender SUV. The collection includes eight color options across two instrument lines. The guitars were previewed before their launch at the Destination Defender event in Temecula, California, held on September 11–13, 2026. Motor1 reports.
Limited U.S.-made series
U.S.-made PRS Silver Sky models are available in four historic Defender colors: Arles Blue, Willow Green, Portofino Red, and Sandglow Yellow. Each version features a white pickguard, white control knobs, and a color-matched headstock.
PRS has limited each color to 500 guitars, bringing the series total to 2,000 instruments. The guitars will come in a hard case bearing the Defender inscription, while the neck plate will display the name of the respective color.
Arles Blue became one of the collection’s key shades because Mayer has owned a 1997 Land Rover Defender 90 in this color for many years. According to him, the Defender color palette was one of the factors behind this collaboration.

Modern colors for the SE series
The SE Silver Sky line received four modern Defender colors: Petra Copper, Sedona Red, Carpathian Grey, and Woolstone Green. These guitars feature black pickguards and black control knobs; according to PRS, this design has been used for Silver Sky models for the first time.
The number of SE guitars will not be limited, but PRS will stop accepting orders for them in mid-2027. Instead of a hard case, buyers will receive a PRS/Defender gig bag, and the neck plate will feature the Defender logo.
Separately, PRS is producing a small non-commercial batch of guitars in British Racing Green. They will not be sold: the company plans to use the instruments to raise funds for the Defender Service Awards and The Heart and Armor Foundation, Mayer’s charitable organization focused on veterans’ health.
