Kyiv is preparing to evacuate vulnerable residents in the event of a blackout
The capital has begun collecting data on residents who may need to be temporarily relocated in the event of a prolonged power or heating outage this winter. This primarily concerns single seniors, people with disabilities, and families raising children with disabilities.
In various districts of Kyiv, notices are already being posted urging residents to contact social services in advance and add their information to the lists.
In particular, such notices are already being posted on buildings in the Holosiivskyi district. In the event of a critical situation, city authorities plan to provide emergency assistance and temporary shelter to elderly people living alone, people with disabilities, and families raising children with disabilities.
To receive assistance or be added to the lists, residents are advised to contact the Department of Social and Veterans’ Policy of the Holosiivskyi District State Administration or their local Territorial Center for Social Services in advance.
These preparations are part of the Kyiv City State Administration’s comprehensive plan to ensure the city’s resilience during the heating season.
As noted by Marina Honda, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, district social service centers are currently updating data on residents with limited mobility who may potentially require social services, temporary relocation, or care in the event of emergencies.
As a reminder, the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has approved Kyiv’s resilience plan, and its implementation has already begun.
Zelenskyy suggested that Ukraine is being denied air defense missiles in an effort to coerce it into negotiations with Russia.
