Kyiv's municipal security service complained of pressure over the dispersal of a protest in Teremky
On September 30, the staff of the Kyiv municipal organization “Municipal Security” called for an end to the use of veterans’ names for political purposes and demanded that pressure on the organization be stopped due to the conflict surrounding the construction of a heating pipeline in the Teremky neighborhood.
The organization emphasized that it had refrained from commenting until the completion of internal investigations into the actions of certain individuals, but this led to a wave of sweeping accusations. The municipal enterprise stressed that specific offenders must be held accountable for their actions, but it is unacceptable to discredit the entire staff and disrespect the authority of veterans.
“It is unacceptable to pit veterans against one another and to exploit their authority, suffering, and combat experience for outside political interests. Do not make enemies out of veterans. We have only one enemy—Russia,” the statement reads. Currently, 209 veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war work for “Municipal Security,” 373 employees are defending Ukraine in the Defense Forces, 28 have been killed, and 9 are considered missing in action.

As a reminder, residents of Kyiv’s Teremky neighborhood held a rally demanding that construction of a backup heating pipeline be completed before the cold weather sets in. People say that last winter, due to problems with Thermal Power Plant No. 5, temperatures in some apartments dropped to +4°, and in some places, water froze in the pipes. According to residents, the new network should provide the district with a backup heating option in case of damage to the thermal power plant. Kyiv’s Municipal Security forcefully pulled the protesters away from the construction equipment.
The Kyiv City State Administration confirmed that in Teremky, Municipal Security personnel pulled people away from the construction equipment.
Following a clash between “Municipal Security” personnel and protesters opposing the felling of trees for the construction of a heating network in Kyiv’s Teremky neighborhood, Kyiv City Council members Alina Mikhailova and Ksenia Semenova are calling for the dissolution of the municipal organization.
