A pedestrian was killed in a collision between two cars in Pechersk

A major traffic accident occurred in the center of the capital at the intersection of General Almazov Street and Knyaziv Ostrozkykh Street, resulting in the death of a civilian. According to preliminary information from law enforcement, a 35-year-old driver of a VAZ vehicle failed to yield the right of way to a BMW traveling on the main road while making a maneuver. 

As a result of the powerful collision, the foreign-made car was thrown onto the shoulder, where a pedestrian was standing at that moment. The BMW driver was unable to avoid the collision and struck the pedestrian. Medical personnel arrived at the scene promptly, but the victim’s injuries were fatal—the man died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

Investigators from the Kyiv Police Department’s Traffic Accident Investigation Unit and patrol crews are currently continuing their work at the scene of the tragedy. Law enforcement officials are establishing all the details and technical circumstances of the accident, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing CCTV footage. Criminal proceedings are being prepared regarding the fatal accident under the article on violations of traffic safety rules.
