A fire broke out at a homeless shelter near Kyiv; one person was injured – photo
A fire broke out in a three-story building housing the Kyiv City Center for Comprehensive Services for the Homeless in the village of Yasnogorodka, Vyshhorod District.
Upon arriving at the scene, State Emergency Service units found heavy smoke and open flames on the second floor of the building. While extinguishing the fire, rescuers evacuated 40 people. A man born in 1969 was injured in the fire, which destroyed a recreation room and caused significant damage to the building.
It took just over an hour to extinguish the fire. Fifty rescue workers and 15 pieces of specialized equipment were deployed to the scene, and State Emergency Service psychologists were also on site to provide assistance. Experts are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
