PrivatBank has allocated funds for the restoration of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra
PrivatBank has allocated 2 million hryvnias for the restoration of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve, which was damaged by Russian shelling. In addition, the bank has opened a special “Donation Envelope” through which anyone can contribute to fundraising efforts for the reconstruction of one of Ukraine’s most important religious sites.
PrivatBank has allocated 2 million hryvnias of its own funds to restore the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve, which was damaged as a result of the enemy attack. The bank also announced the launch of a special “Envelope” through which Ukrainians can make a contribution and help restore the historic site.
The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is a partner of PrivatBank within the framework of a project to develop digital payment technologies at historical and cultural sites in Ukraine. Just recently, the reserve introduced contactless payment for admission tickets and exhibition visits. The bank emphasizes that supporting such sites is particularly important during wartime, when Russia is deliberately targeting Ukraine’s cultural heritage.
PrivatBank CEO Mikael Björkner noted that preserving national symbols requires joint efforts. “At a time when the enemy is trying to destroy the cultural heritage of Ukrainians by attacking one of our main symbols—the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra—it is important to join forces to preserve them. PrivatBank is donating 2 million hryvnias for the restoration of the shrine,” he said.
The bank hopes that concerned Ukrainians will also join the fundraising effort. To this end, a separate charitable “Envelope” was created, through which funds can be transferred for the restoration of the Lavra’s damaged structures. The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is one of Ukraine’s most important historical and spiritual landmarks. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and welcomes thousands of visitors every year. The restoration of the complex following Russian attacks is significant not only for Ukraine but also for the preservation of the world’s cultural heritage.
PrivatBank emphasizes that protecting and rebuilding such sites is now a matter for the entire country. That is why the bank decided not only to provide financial assistance but also to create an opportunity for anyone interested to contribute to the preservation of one of Ukraine’s most famous sacred sites. The company announced this.
