Kyiv will not be opening an official swimming season in 2026
There are no plans to officially open the swimming season in the capital in the summer of 2026. Despite this, relevant agencies continue to monitor the condition of municipal beaches and water quality. The decision is related to the security situation and current wartime restrictions.
Ukrainians were reminded that, according to the Water Code (Article 47), every citizen has the right to unimpeded and free access to the shoreline of water bodies for general water use.
That is why the municipal enterprise “Pleso” is not closing the beaches to visitors.
“Kyiv residents’ right to access water is guaranteed by law, and the beach areas remain open for walks and recreation,” the municipal enterprise stated.
At the same time, it is noted that the official summer season in the capital in 2026 will not be announced:
– due to the imposition of martial law in Ukraine;
– to prevent mass gatherings of people.
According to information from the municipal enterprise “Pleso” (in accordance with Protocol No. 4 of the Kyiv City Defense Council dated May 17, 2023), the requirement to “not recommend visiting beaches” remains in effect in the capital.
It is noted that this information is posted on information boards at all beaches managed by the municipal enterprise.
It is also reported that as of today (June 11, 2026), the list of areas where specialists from the municipal enterprise “Pleso” provide regular maintenance includes 15 municipal beaches.
The distribution of municipal beaches by administrative districts of Kyiv is as follows:
Dniprovskyi District – “Venice,” “Rainbow,” “Youth,” “Children’s,” “Golden,” “Peredmistna-Slobidka,” “Central,” “Rainbow,” and “Telbin”;
Obolonskyi District – “Verbnyi,” “Obolonskyi Island,” and “Pushcha-Vodytsia”;
Desnianskyi District – “Troieshchyna” and “Chortoryi”;
Holosiivskyi District – “Galerna.”
“KP ‘Pleso’ will continue to work on improving the coastal areas and ensuring their proper sanitary and environmental condition,” concluded Andriy Vagin, acting general director of the company.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine.
