A storm warning has been issued in Kyiv

According to the Kyiv City State Administration, a thunderstorm is expected within the next hour. The inclement weather may persist until the end of the day on September 6. Along with the thunderstorm, wind gusts of 15–20 m/s are forecast.
As a result, a Level 1 (yellow) hazard alert has been issued. This means that weather conditions may pose certain risks to people and property. The Kyiv City State Administration has urged Kyiv residents to be cautious during the storm. In particular, during a thunderstorm, it is best to avoid being near billboards, power lines, and large trees. Strong winds can damage structures or snap branches.
The city administration also advises against parking cars near such objects. It is best to park your car away from trees, billboards, and other objects that could fall due to gusts of wind. During a thunderstorm, drivers should be especially careful on the roads. Visibility may be reduced due to heavy rain, and wet road surfaces increase braking distance.
Pedestrians are also advised to take their time and, if possible, wait out the worst of the storm in a safe indoor location. The Kyiv City State Administration reminds the public that during a thunderstorm, people should not stand under isolated or tall trees. If a person is caught outdoors during a storm, it is safer to go inside a building and wait out the storm there. Currently, the warning applies to Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
