A funeral was held in Kyiv for 12-year-old Grisha Glushich

Kyiv bid farewell to 12-year-old schoolboy Grisha Glushich, who died in a traffic accident on June 5 on Chokolivsky Boulevard. The boy was a gifted student who dreamed of traveling, Japan, and a large family.

A farewell ceremony for 12-year-old Grigory Glushich was held at St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral in the capital; his life was tragically cut short on June 5 as a result of a traffic accident on Chokolivsky Boulevard, and this death was a great tragedy for his family, school, and everyone who knew him.

Several dozen people attended the funeral, including children—likely his friends and classmates—who could not contain their emotions and struggled for a long time to believe what had happened, and the boy’s father, who serves in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, also came to say goodbye, but did not deliver any public speeches; he merely thanked the journalists for their attention.

Class teacher Yulia Yefimenko remembers Grigory as a very inquisitive and bright student who was interested in the exact sciences, programming, and foreign languages, and who loved music—especially the piano—and dreamed of becoming a programmer and traveling extensively. “He dreamed of seeing Japan; he was very fascinated by it,” the teacher said, adding that the boy also spoke of the great life ahead of him and even wrote in a school essay that he would like to have a large family, eight children.

According to teachers and loved ones, Grisha had finished sixth grade and was returning from school on the very day of the tragedy, having picked up his work before summer break; in just a few days, he was supposed to go to the Carpathians with his class, but that trip never happened.

School officials note that teachers kept all of the boy’s creative work, which he produced during his time at school, in a separate collection and now plan to give it to his family as a memento of a child who had many plans and dreams but did not live to see them come true. Grigory is survived by his older sister, and his father is currently serving on the front lines. This was reported by hromadske.
