A Tesla driver who caused a fatal accident while under the influence of amphetamines is set to stand trial in Kyiv

A 23-year-old Russian citizen accused of causing a fatal traffic accident in Obolon will stand trial in Kyiv. The accident occurred in November 2025 and claimed the life of a 13-year-old girl.

This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, the defendant was driving a Tesla Model 3 and was traveling from Bohatyrska Street toward Obolonskyi Avenue.

At an unregulated crosswalk, the driver failed to yield to two teenagers who were crossing the street.

As a result of the collision, the 13-year-old girl died at the scene. The 15-year-old boy who was nearby was unharmed.

The investigation determined that the car was traveling at a speed of nearly 150 km/h.

After the accident, the man refused to undergo a breathalyzer test or a medical examination. However, the test was conducted the following day.

The examination confirmed that the driver had used amphetamine.

The defendant is currently in custody without the right to bail.

Juvenile prosecutors from the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office have already filed an indictment with the court.

For causing a fatal traffic accident, the driver faces up to 10 years in prison.
