Video: Traffic gridlock in Kyiv due to closed bridges; Kyiv residents are walking
On the morning of October 2, Kyiv experienced serious transportation issues between the left and right banks of the Dnipro River. Due to the closure of several bridges and massive traffic jams, some residents of the capital had to make their way between the banks on foot.
Footage has been shared online showing people crossing the bridges via pedestrian walkways. Kyiv residents are trying to get from the left bank to the right amid disruptions to public and private transportation.
At the same time, walking across bridges during an air raid alert is dangerous. As of the morning of October 2, sirens had sounded in the capital for the fifth time since the start of the day, and the air raid alert was still in effect.
Staying in open areas on the bridges during an air raid alert poses a direct threat to civilians’ lives. If an air raid alert is declared, people are advised to head to the nearest shelters and not remain in open areas.
Earlier, it was reported that the South Bridge in Kyiv had been completely closed to traffic in both directions.
In addition, traffic on the Metro Bridge from the left bank to the right bank was restricted to a single lane, further complicating transportation between different parts of the capital.

Consequently, due to traffic restrictions on the bridges and massive traffic jams on the morning of October 2, the traffic situation in Kyiv became significantly more complicated, and some residents were forced to find alternative ways to reach the other bank.
The Kyiv City Express commuter train continues to run between the left and right banks of Kyiv along its full route and according to schedule, despite the nighttime attack on the capital.
On the evening of October 1, Russian drones attacked the South Bridge in Kyiv for the second time that day. Following the strike, metro and ground transportation across the bridge were temporarily suspended, and experts began inspecting the structure. Preliminary inspection results indicate that no critical damage to the bridge itself was found.
