Irish band Florence Road performs at Ohana after equipment theft — Rolling Stone
Irish rock band Florence Road performed on the evening of September 26 at the Ohana festival in Dana Point, California, USA, after being forced to cancel a scheduled concert the previous day due to the theft of musical equipment. Rolling Stone reports.
Cancelled performance rescheduled
Two days after a concert at the Troubadour club in West Hollywood, the band’s van was broken into and guitars, pedalboards and other equipment were stolen. As a result, Florence Road was unable to perform in its scheduled 2:00 p.m. slot on September 25.
The musicians said on social media that they had tried to do everything possible to make the performance happen that day, while also seeking an opportunity with Ohana organizers to play during the three-day festival.

Evening slot before the headliner
The following day, organizers gave Florence Road an evening slot between performances by Alabama Shakes and Tyler Childers, who headlined the program. Vocalist Lily Aron, drummer Hannah Kelly, guitarist Emma Brandon and bassist Ailbhe Barry took the stage at around 8:00 p.m.
From the stage, Aron thanked Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and the Ohana team for the opportunity to perform, saying it meant a lot to a small Irish band. Florence Road performed, among other songs, Heavy, Hanging Out to Dry and Break the Girl.
The band is named after a road in the coastal town of Bray in County Wicklow. In April, Florence Road played its first U.S. headline concert in Brooklyn. This summer, the group toured in support of the EP Spring Forward and performed, among other events, at Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Summer Sonic in Osaka.
