Jacob & Co unveils watch with two melodies from The Godfather — Channel NewsAsia
In Singapore, Jacob & Co unveiled the limited-edition mechanical The Godfather II watch, capable of playing two melodies from Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather film saga. The series will be limited to 74 pieces, a reference to the release of The Godfather Part II in 1974, Channel NewsAsia reports.
Two compositions in one mechanism
The model plays The Godfather Love Theme and The Godfather’s Waltz. The music is produced by a miniature mechanical music box: a brass cylinder with pins rotates beside a comb with 18 steel teeth of different lengths. The pins sequentially strike the teeth, creating the melody without electronics.
To select a composition, the selector at the 10 o’clock position must be pressed: it shifts the cylinder by less than one millimetre and aligns the pins for the required melody. Another pusher, located at the 8 o’clock position, starts the mechanism. The performance lasts approximately 15 to 20 seconds. The curved rectangular case shape was designed to improve sound projection and intensity.

Tourbillon and two power reserves
The watch is fitted with the hand-wound manufacture JCAM62 movement, which consists of 510 components, excluding the pins on the music cylinder. It operates at a frequency of 3 Hz, or 21,600 vibrations per hour, and features a one-minute flying tourbillon.
The model has two separate power reserves: 72 hours for the watch movement and energy for ten musical performances. The 42-by-44 mm rose-gold case is made in the Art Deco style. The black lacquered dial features a portrait of Marlon Brando as Don Vito Corleone, the franchise logo and decorative puppet-string motifs.
The caseback has a piano-shaped sapphire window through which the comb of the musical mechanism is visible. The watch comes with a black alligator leather strap with a rose-gold clasp and is water-resistant to 30 metres.
