Mitsikouri festival in Cyprus to present 14 productions from 11 countries

The international Mitsikouri 2026 performing arts festival for children and young people will take place in Cyprus on October 10–18, 2026. The program includes 14 productions from 11 countries, to be presented in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos. Separate events will also be held in the Famagusta district.

Festival program

The third Mitsikouri festival is organized by the ASSITEJ Cyprus Theatre Centre for Children and Young People. The event’s program was officially presented on September 2 at the Leventis Gallery.

As Cyprus Mail reports, the University of Limassol has joined a special festival initiative dedicated to inclusion, accessibility and the right of all children and young people to equal participation in cultural life. At the presentation, the university was represented by Dr Andri Hadjiandreou, director of its Centre for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

Inclusive performance

One of the festival’s key events will be the fully inclusive Norwegian production “Helix – The Hanging Garden.” It will be presented in cooperation with the ENA Foundation and the University of Limassol.

Following the final performance, a roundtable discussion on inclusion and accessibility in the performing arts will take place. Participants will discuss barriers that still exist in accessing the arts, as well as practices and approaches capable of expanding participation in cultural life.

The goal of Mitsikouri 2026 is to give every child an opportunity to experience theatre and the performing arts regardless of their place of residence, economic or social circumstances, or specific needs.
