Mari Roosvalt and Jaan Elken exhibition to open in Pärnu

In Estonia, the Pärnu Museum of New Art will open the joint exhibition “Dialogue” by artists Mari Roosvalt and Jaan Elken on September 12. As ERR News reports, the retrospective will bring together works by the two artists created over the past 25 years.

Shared themes and different techniques

Mari Roosvalt works mainly with oil paints, while Jaan Elken uses acrylics. According to Roosvalt, the artists are united by a similar approach to creative dialogue. She also noted that their works share environmental and political themes, and that both artists follow events in and around the art world.

According to Elken, the exhibition features expressive paintings with brushstrokes, palette knife marks, collage elements, flags and slogans. He described the works on display as a hybrid of painting with echoes of early pop art and noted that he saw many connections between the work of the two artists while creating the exhibition.

Exhibition runs until October 18

The “Dialogue” exhibition at the Pärnu Museum of New Art, also known as MONA, will run until October 18. Elken thanked Roosvalt for her trust during the preparation of the project.
