ROSHEN has renamed its popular "Slivky-lenivky" candies
ROSHEN has changed the name of its “Slivky-lenivky” candies to “Lazy Cow.” The manufacturer announced the name change on September 15.
Lviv-based language activist Sviatoslav Litinsky had been calling for the name change since 2012. According to him, over the years of appealing to the company, he initially received refusals and promises to change the name, but later faced indifference and even threats of legal action over allegations of using a Russian name.
In 2012, the corporation’s then-owner, Petro Poroshenko, stated that he had initiated the return of the Ukrainian language to ROSHEN products. At the time, he emphasized that this was consistent with his unwavering position on the status of the Ukrainian language as the state language.
Now, the candies formerly known as “Slivky-lenivky” have officially become “Lazy Cow.”

On the morning of August 27, a ROSHEN warehouse in Chubynske was destroyed as a result of a massive Russian attack. The facility was used to store and distribute finished confectionery products.
The Ukrainian confectionery corporation Roshen is preparing to enter the British market, which is estimated to be worth over 5 billion pounds sterling. The company is already in talks with local retailers and distributors and plans a major expansion of its product range in the country.
