Finland uses crypto mining heat to warm homes
In Finland, the excess heat generated by crypto mining farms is now being used to warm residential homes. Companies like Hashlabs, Terahash, MARA, and MinersLoop have connected water-cooled ASIC miners directly to city heating systems, feeding captured heat into municipal pipelines.

Analysts estimate that mining heat now warms homes for around 140,000 Finns, roughly 2.5% of the country’s population. The approach reduces strain on traditional heating infrastructure and cuts carbon emissions.
Finland’s example shows how crypto mining can support sustainable energy use, transforming a high-energy industry into a contributor to renewable heat solutions. Experts believe similar projects may soon expand across Europe.
