Charley Hull to open Europe’s singles matches at the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands
England’s Charley Hull will be the first to play for Team Europe in the singles matches on the final day of the Solheim Cup at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands. European captain Anna Nordqvist has entrusted her with the opening match against Megan Khang, which will begin at 10:10 British Summer Time.
As Sky Sports News reports, Hull earned 0.5 points for Europe in her first four matches of the tournament. Nordqvist said the golfer’s game is at the required level, although she has been unable to make putts.

In 2024, Hull also opened the Sunday singles programme at the Solheim Cup. She then defeated Nelly Korda 6&4. Nordqvist noted that Hull only needs a small boost, which is important in match play, and expressed complete confidence in the experienced Solheim Cup participant.

On Saturday, Hull partnered Lottie Woad and suffered two defeats. In foursomes, they lost 6&5 to Alison Lee and Lauren Coughlin, equalling the biggest defeat in the tournament’s foursomes history. Later, the pair lost to Yealimi Noh and Andrea Lee on the final hole.

In the second match of the day, Esther Henseleit will play Alison Lee, who won all three of her previous matches. Linn Grant will face Angel Yin, Nelly Korda will play Mimi Rhodes, and Carlota Ciganda will take on Jennifer Kupcho in the penultimate match. The programme will conclude with a match between Rose Zhang and Céline Boutier.
Team USA need to score six points in Sunday’s singles matches to retain the trophy. Europe need another 6.5 points for their first outright victory since 2021. According to the on-course meteorologist’s forecast, moderate to heavy rain is expected for most of the day, with a 70% to 90% chance of precipitation until midday.
