Former Ghana coach Queiroz leaves by mutual agreement — MyJoyOnline
Former Ghana national football team coach Carlos Queiroz has left his post by mutual agreement with the Ghana Football Association. As MyJoyOnline reports, in a statement released by the association on October 1, Queiroz explained that the decision to end the professional relationship was not easy, but both sides recognized it as the most appropriate one.
Seven matches in charge
Queiroz took charge of the national team on June 11, 2026. During his tenure, Ghana played seven matches in friendlies and at the 2026 World Cup. The team recorded one win, two draws and four defeats.
The Ghanaians scored five goals and conceded ten, while the team's win percentage under Queiroz was approximately 14.3%. The coach's first test was a friendly against Wales, after which the national team began its World Cup campaign with a match against Panama.

World Cup performance
Ghana advanced from the group and reached the round of 32 of the expanded World Cup. At that stage, the team lost 0-1 to Colombia and ended its tournament run.
Queiroz's participation at the World Cup was his fifth consecutive World Cup as a coach. Previously, he secured South Africa's qualification for the 2002 World Cup, led Portugal to the 2010 World Cup playoffs and coached Iran at the 2014 and 2018 tournaments.
After the end of his short-term contract, the parties discussed extending it for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying cycle. However, the Ghana Football Association and Queiroz agreed to part ways. Following his departure, the Ghana national team was left without a head coach.
