Expert Kowalczyk criticizes Bednarek after Poland’s defeat — Interia Sport

In Poland, football expert Wojciech Kowalczyk sharply assessed the performance of defender Jan Bednarek after the national team’s 0-1 defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the fourth round of Nations League Division B. This was reported by Interia Sport.

Defeat after the match against Romania

Before the game against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jan Urban’s team defeated Romania 6-0. According to the outlet, the setback in the next match almost deprived the Poles of their chances of direct promotion to Division A. It will also be difficult for the team to finish above third place, which may affect its seeding pot in the European Championship qualification draw.

Kowalczyk said in the Weszło studio that the national team lacked a player who could take responsibility for the game at a difficult moment. In his opinion, captain Piotr Zieliński was unable to do so because of close marking by the opponents.

Criticism of Bednarek

The expert opposed another change of head coach and instead called for a review of the team’s lineup. He spoke most sharply about Bednarek, accusing him of making a mistake in the penalty area which, according to Kowalczyk, led to a penalty for the opponents.

Kowalczyk also questioned the defender’s leadership qualities and his interaction with Jakub Kiwior in defense. Poland’s national team will play its next matches in November against Romania and Sweden.
