Elina Svitolina advanced to the third round of the China Open in Beijing

Ukraine’s top-ranked player, Elina Svitolina, secured a victory in her opening match at the WTA 1000 China Open in Beijing. The Ukrainian tennis player advanced to the second round of the tournament, which is being held in the Chinese capital.

In her first match of the tournament, Svitolina faced Czech player Kateřina Siniaková.

The match lasted about two hours and ended with a hard-fought victory for the Ukrainian, with a score of 1-6, 6-4, 6-2.

For Elina Svitolina, this is her first appearance at the China Open in Beijing since 2019. Overall, this marks the Ukrainian’s eighth time competing in this tournament.

Svitolina’s best result at the China Open to date remains her performance ten years ago, when she reached the quarterfinals.

Following her victory over Katerzyna Siniakova, the Ukrainian tennis player will continue her quest to advance to the next round of this prestigious tournament.

In her next match, Elina Svitolina will face Maria Sakkari of Greece.

The WTA 1000 China Open is being held in Beijing and will run through October 11. The tournament’s prize pool totals over $9.4 million.

Prior to this, Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina commented on her loss to Belgian player Gret Minnen in the quarterfinals of the Billie Jean King Cup. After the match, the captain of the Ukrainian national team spoke with members of the press.
