Harry Kane named Footballer of the Year in Germany
Bayern Munich and England forward Harry Kane has been named Footballer of the Year in Germany. In a vote organized by Kicker magazine, he received 272 votes from members of the German Sports Journalists Association, Deutsche Welle English reports.
Kane's advantage in the vote
Kane's Bayern teammate Michael Olise finished second with 203 votes. Stuttgart and Germany forward Deniz Undav came third with 61 votes.
Last season, the 33-year-old Kane scored 61 goals in 51 official matches for the Munich club. He also won the Golden Boot for the second time in his career as the top scorer in Europe's national leagues.
For England, Kane scored six goals at the World Cup, where the team reached the semifinals. He became the highest-scoring Englishman in World Cup history, taking his overall tally at the tournament to 14 goals.

Awards for Bayern representatives
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany was named Coach of the Year in Germany. The Belgian received 314 votes after leading the Munich side to victory in the Bundesliga and the German Cup. Freiburg coach Julian Schuster received 87 votes, while Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeneß got 53.
Bayern defender Giulia Gwinn was named Women's Footballer of the Year in Germany. She received 106 votes, ahead of teammate Klara Bühl, who was supported by 94 voters. Last year, Gwinn shared first place with goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger.
Bayern president Herbert Hainer said this was the first time that the awards for the best male and female footballers of the year in Germany had gone to representatives of the same club.
