Yam Madar makes winning Maccabi Tel Aviv debut — Jerusalem Post
In Tel Aviv, Israel, basketball player Yam Madar made his debut for Maccabi in a preseason Super Cup game against his former club Hapoel. Maccabi won 101:83, and Madar was named the game’s most valuable player, the Jerusalem Post reports.
Move from Hapoel to Maccabi
Madar returned to the Yad Eliyahu Arena wearing Maccabi’s blue-and-yellow uniform, although he previously played for Hapoel Tel Aviv. Last season, the teams faced each other in the championship final series, which Maccabi won 3:1. At Hapoel, Madar was one of the leading players on Dimitris Itoudis’ team, while Maccabi was coached by Oded Kattash.
The basketball player came through Hapoel’s youth system and was later selected by the Boston Celtics in the NBA draft. In his first game for his new club, he opened his scoring with a three-point shot and also assisted Keaton Wallace, who scored from beyond the arc.

Maccabi’s advantage in the second half
After the first quarter, Maccabi led 28:26. In the second 10-minute period, Madar forced Max Heidegger into a backcourt violation and reached 10 points scored.
After halftime, Maccabi also got offensive contributions from Yiftach Lundberg, Roman Sorkin, Will Rayman and Bonzie Colson. Before the final quarter, the team held a 79:56 lead. In the closing stretch, points were scored, among others, by newcomer Armando Bacot and T.J. Leaf, who returned after a long injury-related absence. Next week, Maccabi is set to begin its EuroLeague campaign.
