Spain beat Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup
Spain’s national team defeated Nigeria 2-0 in the opening match of Group F at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, held in Sosnowiec, Poland. This was reported by Premium Times Nigeria.
Spain’s goals
The Spanish opened the scoring in the 13th minute thanks to a goal by Marisa García. The Nigerian team tried to respond but was unable to break through their opponents’ organized defense, and Spain retained the lead until halftime.
In the second half, Spain extended its advantage. Alba Serrato scored in the 73rd minute, setting the final score of the match.

Upcoming group matches
In the next Group F match, Nigeria will play China on Wednesday. The Nigerians will later also face New Caledonia.
Nigeria head coach Moses Aduku had called the match against Spain a “cup final” before the game and urged his players to give their maximum effort. Nigeria were tournament finalists twice, in 2010 and 2014. Spain won the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2022 and finished as runners-up in 2018.
