Lens thrash Auxerre, Lyon beat Toulouse in Ligue 1 opening round
According to Channel NewsAsia, Lens defeated Auxerre 5-2 at home, while Lyon beat Toulouse 2-0 away in matches of the opening weekend of the new French Ligue 1 season.
Five goals for Lens
Florian Thauvin converted two penalties for Lens. Croatian forward Franjo Ivanovic, Saudi defender Saud Abdulhamid and defender Ismaëlo Ganiou also scored.
For Auxerre, Cameroonian forward Danny Namaso scored from the penalty spot, while defender Lamine Sy added another goal. The team was reduced to 10 men after Kévin Macosso was sent off for a last-man foul.

Late goals in Toulouse
Lyon secured victory over Toulouse thanks to late goals from Noah Nartey and Malick Fofana. On Wednesday, the Lyon club will host Fenerbahce in the second leg of the playoff tie: the score in the matchup is 1-1 after the first game.
The other Saturday matches of the opening round ended in draws. Nice played out a 0-0 draw with Lorient, while Paris and newly promoted Troyes also failed to score.
