Dutch tennis player Botic van de Zandschulp in New York, USA, came back from two sets down to defeat Frenchman Arthur Gea and reach the US Open quarterfinals. As ABC News reports, the match lasted 5 hours and 13 minutes and became the fourth-longest in the tournament's history.
Saving a match point
The 30-year-old van de Zandschulp lost the first two sets 3:6 and 6:7 (0). Gea had a match point in the third-set tiebreak, but the Dutchman saved it and later leveled the match in sets.
The final score was 3:6, 6:7 (0), 7:6 (7), 7:6 (3), 6:4. It is van de Zandschulp's second career US Open quarterfinal appearance: he first reached this stage in 2021. In the second round of the current tournament, the Dutchman defeated Australian Alex de Minaur.

Gea entered the main draw as a lucky loser after 2022 US Open finalist Casper Ruud withdrew from the tournament because of a back injury. The Frenchman could have become the first lucky loser to reach the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam men's singles tournament.
Other quarterfinalists
Twenty-eighth seed Belgian Alexander Blockx and Karen Khachanov also reached the quarterfinals. Blockx defeated 24th-seeded Argentine Francisco Cerundolo 6:3, 4:6, 7:5, 7:5 and became the first Belgian to reach this stage of the US Open.
Khachanov defeated 14th-seeded American Learner Tien in five sets, 7:5, 4:6, 6:7 (6), 6:1, 6:4. He will play Blockx in the quarterfinals.
