Razaullah’s 81 delayed the conclusion of the third England-Pakistan Test
In Birmingham, Pakistani cricketer Razaullah hit nine sixes and scored 81 runs off 63 balls in the third Test match against England at Edgbaston. His performance prevented England from finishing the match within three days: on the fourth day, the hosts need 130 runs to win.
Nine sixes in a debut Test
As Sky Sports News reports, 21-year-old Razaullah equalled Tim Southee’s record for the number of sixes hit by a player in a debut Test match. When Pakistan lost their eighth wicket early in the evening session, the team was still trailing by two runs.
Razaullah and Mohammad Abbas, who scored 42 runs, put together a partnership of 121 runs. Abbas also hit two sixes, but was dismissed late in the day after sending the ball into the hands of the fielder at point off Josh Tongue’s delivery. Razaullah was the final player dismissed on the third day: he was bowled by Dan Lawrence, who ended the day with figures of 2-17.

England’s target
Pakistan completed their second innings on 449 runs. Shan Masood scored 95 runs, while captain Babar Azam made 76. Masood was dismissed after a one-handed catch by Lawrence in the slips, while Babar Azam fell into England’s short-ball trap shortly before the tea break.
Before Razaullah’s surge, Pakistan lost four wickets for 40 runs. England won the first Test of the series at Headingley by an innings and 103 runs, and the second at Lord’s by 194 runs. If England win the match at Edgbaston, they will beat Pakistan in all three Tests of a home series for the first time.
