Six Ukrainian tennis players have made it into the WTA Top 50
The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has released its updated world rankings as of September 14, 2026. Ukrainian tennis players have set a new national record: for the first time in history, six Ukrainian players have made it into the top 50.
The leader of Ukrainian tennis, Elina Svitolina, moved up two spots to seventh place in the world rankings.
Marta Kostyuk entered the top 10 of the WTA rankings for the first time in her career. The 24-year-old Ukrainian moved up from 11th to 10th place and set a new personal best.
Kostyuk became the second Ukrainian tennis player in history to enter the top 10, following Elina Svitolina.
Thus, for the first time in the history of Ukrainian tennis, two players from the country are simultaneously ranked in the top 10 of the WTA rankings.
Four more Ukrainian tennis players are ranked in the top 50 of the world rankings.
Oleksandra Oliinykova jumped five spots to 41st place, setting a new personal best.
Daria Snigur moved up three spots to 42nd place, also setting a new career-high.
Yulia Starodubtseva made the biggest jump among Ukrainian players in the top 100. She climbed 15 spots at once—from 58th to 43rd place—setting a new personal best.
Angelina Kalinina moved up four spots and returned to 47th place.
As a result, Ukraine now has six tennis players in the top 50 of the WTA rankings for the first time ever. The previous national record was five players.
Dayana Yastremska moved up three spots to 110th place.
Veronika Podrez improved her personal best by six spots and is now ranked 126th.
Anastasia Soboleva set another personal record, jumping 13 spots at once—from 194th to 181st place.
Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan, who won the 2026 U.S. Open, took first place in the WTA singles rankings.
"Neutral" Arina Sobolenko, who had topped the world rankings since October 2024, dropped to second place.
American Jessica Pegula retained her third-place ranking.
The updated WTA rankings mark a historic milestone for Ukraine: for the first time, the country is represented by six tennis players among the world’s top 50, and two Ukrainian women are simultaneously in the top 10.

Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk will enter the world’s top 10 for the first time in her career next week. She will occupy the 10th spot in the WTA rankings.
Kostyuk, Ukraine’s No. 2 player, defeated a Russian opponent and advanced to the round of 16 at the US Open.
In the U.S., Noskova defeated Kostyuk and advanced to the quarterfinals of the US Open.
Marta Kostyuk advanced to the fourth round of a WTA 1000 tournament for the first time in her career.
