American tennis player Coco Gauff defeated Spain’s Cristina Bucsa 6:3, 6:4 in the third round of the US Open in New York, United States, on September 5, advancing to the fourth round of the tournament.

As Channel NewsAsia reports, citing Reuters, fourth seed Gauff reached the second week of the US Open for the fifth consecutive year. In the first set, the American lost her serve in the third game but broke back in the sixth thanks to a series of deep backhand shots.
Gauff broke again in the eighth game of the first set after a 21-shot rally. She hit more than 15 winners in the match. The tennis player noted that she relied primarily on defense in the first set and, after finding her rhythm, was able to attack more actively.

Decisive break in the second set
In the second set, Gauff did not allow Bucsa to seize the initiative, made fewer errors and played effectively from the baseline. The American secured the key break in the ninth game with a backhand winner and finished the match with a shot near the net.
In the fourth round, Gauff will play the winner of the match between American Iva Jovic and Alexandra Eala of the Philippines.
