Usyk confirmed that Lomachenko is preparing to return to the ring

Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk reported that former world champion in three weight classes Vasyl Lomachenko has already begun training for his return to professional boxing.

According to Usyk, Lomachenko is currently at a training camp.

The 38-year-old Ukrainian fought his last bout in May 2024, when he knocked out Australian George Kambosos and won the IBF world title. After that, Lomachenko announced his retirement, but in May 2026, he decided to return to the ring.

According to insider Mike Koppinger, the Ukrainian’s next opponent could be Emanuel Navarrete, followed by a possible bout against Jervonta Davis.

Over his professional career, Lomachenko has fought 21 bouts, winning 18 (12 by knockout) and suffering three losses.

Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk has likely already decided on his final opponent in his professional career. According to The Ring, the Ukrainian’s team is in active negotiations for a fight against former world champion Deontay Wilder.

Oleksandr Usyk no longer tops the list of the world’s best boxers across all weight classes. Japanese champion Naoya Inoue now holds the top spot in The Independent’s prestigious rankings. The Ukrainian, who for a long time was the world’s top boxer following his victories in the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions, has dropped to second place.
