Zabarnij became the fourth Ukrainian to win the Champions League
Ilya Zabarnyi became the fourth Ukrainian soccer player in history to win the Champions League. In the final, his club, PSG, defeated London’s Arsenal.
In the 2025/26 Champions League final, Zabarnyi’s PSG defeated London’s Arsenal in a penalty shootout (1-1, penalties 4-3), and the defender himself took the field in extra time for the final 15 minutes of the match. The Ukrainian national team defender won the title in his debut season with PSG and added it to his French league title.
This season, Zabarnyi has played seven Champions League matches. His appearance in extra time of the final marked his playoff debut.
