CATL deploys humanoid robots at battery production plant in Luoyang
The world’s largest electric vehicle battery manufacturer, Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), has started integrating humanoid androids at its production facility in Luoyang, Henan Province. This development is significant as the robots perform one of the most hazardous tasks — connecting high-voltage connectors on battery assembly lines.

The Xiaomo robot model, developed by Spirit AI, a startup based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, has tripled the number of batteries assembled per shift. CATL’s plant is the world’s first to deploy robots on a battery production line, highlighting the company’s leading edge in innovation.
This breakthrough could mark the start of broader adoption of robotics in electric vehicle manufacturing, enhancing workplace safety and production efficiency in the industry.
