FunnyPlaying unveils FPGB Mini for Game Boy cartridges — The Verge
Chinese company FunnyPlaying, which produces upgrade kits for the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance, has unveiled the FPGB Mini handheld console. The device supports original Game Boy and Game Boy Color cartridges, as well as ROM files. According to The Verge, the new device's body is only slightly wider than a Game Boy cartridge.
Game support and specifications
The FPGB Mini uses field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology to reproduce Game Boy and Game Boy Color games with accuracy close to the original Nintendo hardware. The console features a 2.98-inch LCD display with a resolution of 800 × 720 pixels, an 1,800 mAh battery, and a microSD card slot.
The memory card can store game saves, screenshots, and ROM files, which are launched through emulation. The console also supports multiplayer gaming and in-game data exchange via a USB-C cable.

Price and limitations
Cartridge support on the FPGB Mini is limited to Game Boy and Game Boy Color. Unlike the Analogue Pocket, the device is not compatible with the Game Boy Advance and Sega Game Gear. Due to its compact body, cartridges with built-in rumble motors or other hardware add-ons cannot be used.
Following a recent price increase, the Analogue Pocket costs $239.99. The first batch of 20 FPGB Mini devices was offered at a discounted price of $69.99 instead of $89.99 and sold out quickly. According to Retro Dodo, which tested the console for several days, FunnyPlaying may release new batches after refining the hardware.
