The number of monthly active users on the social network Threads has reached 500 million

The text-based social network Threads has reached 500 million monthly active users three years after its launch. Connor Hayes, the platform’s head, announced a significant increase in daily user activity, refuting third-party agencies’ assessments that interest in the app was waning. 

Reaching this milestone marks the fulfillment of exactly half of Mark Zuckerberg’s plan to build a media platform with one billion users. 

Analysts cite deep integration with Instagram, the involvement of global stars such as the K-pop group BTS, and a shift in management strategy toward greater news relevance—rather than the initial distancing from political content—as the main factors behind its success. Threads is now gradually evolving into a self-sustaining platform, as more and more people are opening the app directly.
