Meta is preparing autonomous Muse Charm device for AI agent — The Verge

Meta is developing a standalone device for the new Muse AI agent — the gadget will be called Muse Charm. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg briefly demonstrated it at the end of the Meta Connect presentation. As The Verge reports, the company plans to ship the device by the December holidays.

Screen and voice control

Muse Charm resembles a bulky smartwatch without a strap: it has a large screen and a small cord for wearing. A fingerprint sensor is located in the upper-right corner. According to Zuckerberg, pressing it will activate the device and allow users to start a conversation with the AI agent.

A small camera is also visible on the body, while there are at least three openings on the front panel, likely for microphones. Zuckerberg said that using Charm does not require unlocking a phone or opening an app. At the same time, he did not explain how the device would connect to Meta’s servers.

Production is not yet complete

According to the Meta chief, the company has so far produced only a few such devices and still has to decide on the finishing material. During the presentation, Zuckerberg also mentioned a semi-transparent outer casing that would make it possible to see the gadget’s internal components, and described the design as styled after hacker aesthetics.

Zuckerberg promised to share more details soon.
