Pinterest tests AI-powered Restyle feature in the US and Canada — TechCrunch

In the United States and Canada, Pinterest is beta-testing the Restyle feature, which uses artificial intelligence to make it possible to change the interior in photos of users’ own rooms. As TechCrunch reports, the tool is currently available in an early preview format, with a broader rollout planned for next month.

Restyle capabilities

Users can upload a photo of a room and ask AI to add wall decor, furniture, accessories, or other design elements. Items from images found on Pinterest can also be used for visualization. The tool makes it possible to change lighting, wall paint color, plants, and other room details.

Individual objects in an image can be selected to replace, remove, or further edit them. Restyle can also visualize a room in another style, including bohemian, industrial, whimsical, or “dopamine” style.

Technological foundation

The feature is powered by Pinterest Intelligence. According to the company, its technological foundation combines Nvidia Blackwell graphics processors, Nvidia Dynamo, open-source models, and Pinterest’s own developments. This is expected to improve Pinterest Assistant’s ability to process visual search queries and turn users’ search queries into signals for AI search and shopping.

Restyle was announced at the annual Pinterest Presents event. There, the company also introduced new visual search advertising formats, app promotion tools, and other solutions for advertisers. The ability to see saved ideas in users’ own spaces could potentially help them compare decor options and purchase products saved on Pinterest boards.
