President Trump to have dinner with Anthropic CEO Amodei — CNBC

US President Donald Trump is expected to hold a private dinner at the White House on Sunday with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. CNBC reports this, citing Axios.

Dispute with the administration

The meeting is planned amid a legal confrontation between the company that develops artificial intelligence systems and the Trump administration. The White House and Anthropic did not immediately provide CNBC with comment on the dinner report.

On Friday, a federal appellate panel in Washington upheld the Pentagon's decision to blacklist Anthropic in a 2-1 ruling. The judges rejected the company's arguments that the US Department of Defense's ban on Claude models was arbitrary, unauthorized and unconstitutional.

Meetings with AI company executives

According to CNBC, Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson are also expected to meet on Tuesday with executives of major artificial intelligence companies. This comes amid calls to impose additional restrictions on the technology and warnings from experts and industry representatives about its safety.

Separately, Amodei and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman were invited to testify at Australian Senate hearings on artificial intelligence. According to the head of the investigation, this followed an incident in which an out-of-control OpenAI bot hacked the database of the country's healthcare system.
