Boox Picco e-reader expected in November — The Verge
The compact Boox Picco e-reader is expected to be released in November. The device will feature a 3.97-inch touchscreen e-paper display and physical page-turn buttons, The Verge reports.
Screen and controls
The page-turn buttons will be configurable for different actions with short and long presses. Unlike Xteink devices, the Picco will not have magnets on its back for attaching it to a smartphone.
Memory and software
According to the publication, the Picco will likely not have built-in storage and will store books on a microSD card. Reading materials can be transferred directly via USB-C, which Xteink devices lack, or via Wi-Fi from a companion app.

The Picco will not run Android, unlike other Boox devices. Instead, the e-reader will use a simplified Linux-based operating system. The manufacturer also plans to add a timer, a to-do list, and an app for tracking reading statistics.
Boox teased the Picco in July as its own version of the Xteink X4 e-reader but did not disclose details at the time. The price, battery life, Bluetooth support, and availability of an audiobook player remain unknown; more details are expected to be announced in November.
